Tutorial for Fire Skirt?

Hi all, this is my first post and I’m currently working on a music video
I’ve got a shot of a ballerina from above, she’s spinning, and I want her skirt to appear on fire as she’s twirling.
I’m working in After Effects and have used a basic ground fire shot with the ‘Twirl’ effect, which looks OK, but I think it could be more believable. Has anyone got any suggestions on techniques, or can recommend a different piece of fire footage I could use from the store?
Many thanks,
Holly

Welcome @hjmsimons !

That sounds like a cool shot you are working on and I can see how it would be hard to get that exact look.

I have two ideas, one is to use the Burning Steel Wool to get the appearance of fabric burning. Check out the demo shots on the page to see an example.

Second idea is to use some of the windy clips in the Flame Torch collection to help sell the spinning.

Hope this helps! Would love to see the shot when you finish it.

Hi Zac, thanks for your advice, it definitely looks much better!
If you’re interested, I’ve uploaded the clip here.
I’m submitting the file this Friday so if anyone has any further suggestions, I’m open minded!
