Blowing up a Y-Wing with Action VFX elements

An oldie, but a goodie.

I love taking ActionVFX explosions, with all their lovely real fire and smoke and modifying them into sprites for particle sim explosions. It lets me reshape the explosion in a new way (or move around it in 3D space) while keeping a high level of realism.


I remember this! Always cool to see our products being used in unique ways. What did you comp this shot in?

@Rodolphe Animated and comped in Hitfilm. It’s actually also using the old bonfire and missile smoke presets you might remember from HF 2 Ultimate!
